President
The President of the Institute for Women in Puerto Rico is a seasoned businesswoman with 14 years of experience in leadership and advocacy. As a mother and migrant, she brings a unique perspective to her role, deeply understanding the challenges that women face, especially those balancing family, career, and personal growth. Her career has been dedicated to empowering women through professional development, supporting families, promoting health and wellness, and advocating for the rights of women and children.
Nydia Velez
Vice President
The Vice President of the Institute for Women in Puerto Rico hails from Humacao and is an accomplished consultant with a doctorate in Organizational and educational leadership. As a mother, she brings a compassionate, family-centered approach to her work, ensuring that the organization’s initiatives holistically address both professional and personal development for women.
With her expertise in Organizational leadership, she provides valuable insights into workplace dynamics and mental health, helping to shape programs that support women in balancing careers, leadership roles, and family life.

Magaly Latorre
Treasurer
With over 15 years of experience in accounting and government auditing, Magaly brings a wealth of financial expertise to the role. She has worked with key government agencies in Puerto Rico, such as the Head Start Project, and has extensive experience in the private sector as a consultant in accounting and tax preparation. Additionally, she is actively involved in her community, contributing to her local Catholic church.

As Treasurer of the Women's Institute, her experience ensures sound and transparent financial management.
Priscila Martínez
Secretary
Entrepreneur and visionary, Priscila has transformed her passions into daily pursuits. As the owner of a café and food business, she provides services and supports new entrepreneurs in making their dreams a reality. A life, business, and spiritual coach, she dedicates her workdays to consulting for small startups. She has experience in various sectors of the private industry and has worked with marginalized and special communities.


Carla I. Ramos
Vocal
Carla I. Ramos is a dedicated student of Politics and Law, with a strong passion for public service and the defense of human rights. Throughout her academic journey, she has gained valuable experience working on the observation and analysis of legislation, honing her understanding of the legal process and its societal impact. Her commitment to justice and equality drives her efforts to contribute meaningfully to the development and reform of policies that protect vulnerable populations. Carla is determined to use her skills and knowledge to make a positive difference in her community and beyond.
Lupita M. Topete
Vocal
Originally from Mexico and currently based in Puerto Rico, Lupita is a passionate health professional with a background in bioengineering and an MBA. She specializes in interventional cardiology, with a strong focus on advancing cardiovascular health, particularly in women, by combining technical expertise with strategic vision to drive meaningful clinical and educational impact.
Beyond her work in healthcare, she has volunteered at the Casa del Migrante in Tijuana, supporting vulnerable communities, and remains an active advocate for women's rights. She is also deeply committed to empowering women through financial freedom, actively educating herself in wealth building, investment strategies, and generational wealth creation.
Proactive, empathetic, and driven by a strong sense of purpose, Lupita is dedicated to creating healthier, more equitable, and inclusive spaces for all women.
